Village of Chester Mayor Susan Bahren spoke out Tuesday about the high-speed chase that nearly killed a local police officer. Town of Chester Police Officer Robert Ferrara was severely injured in a head-on collision in July. Ferrara blames the Chester Village Police Department for not communicating clearly and causing his accident. Just last week, Ferrara was released from the Westchester Medical Center after undergoing several operations. A day later, he announced plans to sue the village, citing a major break down in their radio communications. Bahren wished Ferrara a speedy recovery and said village officials do not usually comment on ongoing litigation. She did say, however, the village stands by its officers and their actions during the recent events.
