A Wappinger man now could face up to 30 years in prison for shooting at police officers during a domestic incident. Christopher DeMiliio is facing several charges including attempted manslaughter, menacing and criminal mischief. Prosecutors say he shot at police and injured one officer back in 2019 after he threatened to kill his wife and two young sons. He'll be sentenced next month.
A delay is being held in the parole hearing for the getaway diver in the Brinks armored car robbery that happened in 1981 in Rockland County. David Gilbert, 76, will have his hearing next week. He was granted clemency by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in one of his final acts in office. Gilbert is serving 75 years for his role in the robbery, which left two police officer and a Brinks guard dead.
Students at Iona College honored the co-founder of the Ice Bucket Challenge by throwing buckets of freezing water over their heads on the school’s yard. Pat Quinn was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease in 2013, five years after he graduated from Iona College. He went on to raise more than $220 million for medical research through the program. Quinn died in November 2020 at just 37.
