An Orange County mother and her 4-year-old son were rushed to the hospital Tuesday after smashing into a tree in Warwick. Police say rainy conditions and leaves on the road may have contributed to the accident. With cooler temperatures and falling leaves, police say drivers need to shift into fall and winter driving mode. This means checking windshield wiper blades, headlights, taillights and blinkers. Drivers should also make sure tires are properly inflated and not worn.Warwick police also say one of the most dangerous things people can do is pile leaves in front of their houses. They say wind can blow the leaves back into the street, making roads very slick. Both the mother and her son were injured and are now recovering.
