Police have charged a Warwick woman Friday with starving her 9-year-old dog to death.
According to police, the St. Bernard mix named Princess dropped more than half her weight after spending just six months with owner Maryann Adams. The dog was found frozen and emaciated in a pen behind Adams's home on Greenwood Avenue on February 1. The discovery was made after a neighbor contacted the Warwick Humane Society about the dog.
Adams, 33, is charged with animal neglect. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on April 17.
