Westchester County executive candidate unveils plan to make Rye Playland safer
Westchester County executive candidate Rob Astorino unveiled a five-point plan Tuesday that he believes will make Rye Playland safer for children.
As part of Astorino?s plan no child would be allowed to ride alone and ride workers would conduct a head count for every rider. Astorino also suggests the park hire retired police officers and emergency workers, who would be able to respond immediately to any emergency situations.
Astorino says the Rye Playland administration has added improvements to make rides safer. However, he feels his plan goes a step further to minimize the risk of accidents happening again. Astorino plans to present his safety plan to the board of legislators and the parks committee Wednesday.
The extra safety precautions come as a result of a recent death on the ride Ye Old Mill.
