Democrats in Westchester County are taking on wage discrimination with a bill that would ban employers from asking interviewees how much they've made at previous jobs.
"This will help level the playing field," says Catherine Parker, a county legislator. "There's a lot of disparity between women and men, as far as what they are making, and it's often based on previous salaries."
Wage advocates say they question has a discriminatory history when it comes to minorities and women.
A similar bill passed the state Assembly but failed in the Senate.
Officials at the Business Council of Westchester say they have not taken a position on the proposal.
