A Westchester County K-9 has already made a name for himself in a case against two suspected terrorists.
Harley, a 2-year-old yellow Labrador, is the first electronics detection K-9 in New York. She is trained to sniff out small memory-saving devices.
Harley recently used her detection skills to find evidence that will be used against brothers Christian and Tyler Toro, Bronx-based twins accused of stockpiling 30 pounds of explosives in their apartment.
The brothers are also accused of paying students $50 an hour to remove gunpowder from fireworks to make bombs.
"Harley is imprinted on a chemical, and we'll abbreviate it - it's called TTPO. That chemical is common in all memory devices," says Det. Brett Hochron. "So regardless of what memory device it is - whether it's a cellphone, an iPad, an iPod, a digital camera with an SD card — they all smell the same to Harley."
