Wet roads, driver inexperience led to fatal crash
Police investigating the fatal crash that claimed the lives of two popular Suffern High School baseball players have determined that wet roads and driver inexperience played a role.
Vincent Crotty, 18, and Christopher Konkowski, 17, were killed last month after Crotty's car slid across the double yellow lines on Route 202 in Montebello and crashed into an oncoming dump truck. The two were on their way to baseball practice.
Police say they may never know what events occurred right at the moment in time the accident happened. They say they also could not determine if Crotty was texting while driving. In addition, police found no drugs or alcohol in Crotty's system.
Police say by closing the books on this case, they hope to bring closure to the families.
