Thousands of Hudson Valley residents were left without electricity after strong winds toppled trees and power lines Thursday morning.
?The wind was crazy," says Katie Bender, of Piermont. "Even driving down the road you could feel the car moving. It was pretty powerful. I haven't felt wind like this in a long time."
Gusts of wind took down power lines on Hickey Street and Route 9W in Piermont, leaving traffic lights in the dark. An Orangetown officer had to direct vehicles.
At the height of storm, 3,000 customers in Rockland County were left without electricity for several hours as utility crews worked to repair the damage.
"[It's] a tremendous loss because I work in the house and I need my computer,? says Rena Morris. ?I do consulting, so it could wipe out half of my day.?
