Winter blast leaves Hudson Valley coated in ice
The snow and freezing rain that hit the Hudson Valley Saturday drifted away, but left behind slippery, icy streets and sidewalks.
The Department of Public Works in White Plains said it salted roads hours before the snow fell. But many residents say the region got lucky, with most places getting only 2-3 inches of snow.
Most roads were cleared of ice by Sunday afternoon, but DPW crews were out salting the roads again before they froze over.
