A storm dumping a wintry mix of ice and snow is causing slick roadways across the Hudson Valley.
News 12 Meteorologist Joe Rao says a winter weather advisory is in effect until this afternoon for the Hudson Valley.
Rao says that most of the southern Rockland and Westchester counties are experiencing rain today. Regions above I-287 however have a light mix of rain sleet and snow.
No accumulation is expected below I-287 but upper elevations and valleys above that line may get up to an inch of accumulation.
Many schools in the region either canceled classes for the day or opened after a delay. Salt has been put down on most roads to keep them clear, but the weather is not expected to have any major impacts on school dismissal or the evening commute.
The wet weather is expected to clear out later this evening and temperature are expected to have highs in the 30s for the rest of the work week.
