SUFFERN - As the frigid temperatures settle in across the region, many people have to make their living working outside in the middle of the polar vortex.

A tree-cutting crew says the key is to dress in layers, as well as wrapping up in a scarf or two. They also try to take breaks to warm up in their truck.

Water delivery worker Yobani Recinos says he needs to work fast because some of his stock freezes solid. To keep warm, he wears two jackets, two pants and gloves.

To prevent frostbite, health officials advise people to wear a lot of layers and protect all exposed skin.
