Wounded Marine from HV participates in marathon
A wounded warrior from the Hudson Valley was able to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. this past weekend despite his disabilities.
Sgt. Eddie Ryan can't run, or even walk, but he says that didn't stop him from taking part in the 35th annual Marine Corps Marathon Sunday with fellow former Marine Staff Sgt. Bryan Purcell acting as his legs.
The team says they named themselves 4-13 after April 13, 2005, the day Ryan was shot in the head while serving in Iraq, changing his life forever.
Purcell says he imagines this is not the only marathon the two will take part in together, saying he is dedicated to working with Ryan as he recovers.
