Yonkers actor, accomplice accused in NYPD cop's death appear in court
Hundreds of police officers gathered in a Bronx courtroom Monday for the pretrial of two accused cop killers.Yonkers actor Lillo Brancato Jr. and Steve Armento are charged with killing officer Daniel Enchautegui while breaking into a house back in December. Officials say Armento is the one who fired the shot that killed the officer outside his Bronx home. Both have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, burglary and weapons possession. Armento's lawyer says the case has gotten so much attention that he wants to see a gag order issued. While Brancato?s attorney, Mel Sachs says his client's celebrity is overshadowing the facts in the case. He plans on making a motion to get some of the charges against his client dismissed and ultimately he'd like to see the cases tried separately.
