Yonkers residents are campaigning to protect city’s growing stray animal population The Citizen’s Group says Yonkers is filled with hundreds of stray animals who need homes.
The group is asking for a low-cost spay and neuter clinic be created to control the number of stray cats and kittens born on the street who are often sick or abused.
Animal activists say there is currently a clinic at the Yonkers Animal Shelter that could be used for the low-cost spay and neuter program.
They hope that the mayor’s office will offer the support they need to get the program underway.
