Yonkers charter school launches computer drive

A Yonkers school wants to make sure its students have all the tools they need to succeed. The Charter School of Educational Excellence wants all

YONKERS - A Yonkers school wants to make sure its students have all the tools they need to succeed.

The Charter School of Educational Excellence wants all of its more than 650 students to have a laptop computer, and it only has about 20.

The Warburton Avenue school is hosting a "Bits & Bytes" fundraiser on Monday, April 21 at the 42 Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in White Plains. There are a number of organizations spearheading the technology campaign including Entergy, Goya, The Yankee Foundation and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. "We find the children are able to do interactive work on all the computers with the support of an instructional person and the results have just been amazing," says board chairman Eduardo Laguerre.

Students from kindergarten through eighth grade attend the Charter School of Educational Excellence.
