Yonkers took a first step toward transforming the Ludlow neighborhood on Tuesday.
The city broke ground on an $11.5 million four-story building that brings 36 new apartment units to the area.
It's the first of two projects by Ginsburg Development Corporation to be built in the area.
The 70 Pier St. property was formerly home to an office and garage that was used by the Yonkers Parking Authority.
"You see those pictures, those plans to see what we're doing to bring to Yonkers. That's what we do when we're in the council office. I also want to say thank you to Mr. Ginsburg. You are the developer that continues to give," says City Council Majority Leader Tasha Diaz.
Ginsburg Development also has plans to revitalize the existing public space, which will include new pavement, landscape and sidewalks.
