13h agoThe second annual Yonkers Fashion Week kicked off Tuesday at the Yonkers Riverfront Public Library.
Organizers say the event is about more than just fashion. This year, some shows honored models with special needs and people with cancer.
“We are fashion with a purpose,” said Theo Meggett, Fashion Week president.
Many designers are from Yonkers, including Darrell Wamack of Winning 4Ever Apparel. He said the event helps designers network and show people they can succeed.
Twenty-year-old model J-C, who has Down syndrome, rocked Wamack’s designs. His mother was grateful for the inclusion.
Yonkers Fashion Week runs through Saturday.
