YONKERS, NY - A late-night house fire left a Yonkers home heavily damaged.

The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. Friday night at a multi-story home at 953 Mile Square Road.

It took about 50 firefighters to bring the blaze under control. Officials believe the fire may have started in the basement and then spread to the other floors.

Crews say the home was empty and believe that it was being renovated.

Fire officials are still investigating a cause of the fire.
