Runners from across the country gathered Sunday for the 93rd annual Yonkers Marathon.

The marathon is the second oldest marathon in the country and invites runners to challenge themselves with a run through a tough course that stretches through scenic hills and along the Hudson River.

Runners tell News 12 Westchester that there are various reasons why they choose to participate, including honoring their communities, raising awareness for a cause and challenging themselves mentally and physically.
