Yonkers midnight B-ball returns after brawl
Attendance at Yonkers midnight basketball was down this week after last week's brawl injured at least three people and threatened to shut down the league entirely.
One of those injured during the fracas was a police officer. The league was temporarily canceled, but is now back on after new surveillance cameras were installed.
Nepperhan Community Center Director Jim Bostic says midnight basketball has been around for 14 years, and that by canceling the league after one incident, Yonkers is letting the bad guys win.Bostic says the center is planning to give out trespass notices to known gang members, meaning that if any of them show up to the league, police can arrest them on the spot.
