The Yonkers Police Department says it’s aware of a video circulating online that has sparked false allegations that officers were harassing a young boy.
Police say they got a 911 call from a concerned resident who wanted officers to do a wellness check on the boy who looked “disheveled” and was walking by himself.
“The boy conveyed to the officer that he was fine and walked off. The officers continued in this same direction to ensure his safety as he walked home,” reads a statement posted on the Yonkers Facebook page. “We believe our Officers acted appropriately during this interaction.”
