Some residents in Yonkers say they have not been able to shower, clean or cook with hot water for three months.
Tenants at eight apartments at 112 Saratoga Ave. say they have been struggling to get through the summer months without gas.
"My electric is up because of boiling water. You got big buckets, so it takes a long time, hours. And by the time you get in the shower, it's cold again," says tenant Virginia O'Rourke.
The management company, Total Realty Associates, provided residents with a hot plate and a letter informing them the problem will be fixed, but it's still unclear when.
The management company says it's waiting for a permit from the city to install new gas piping there, but residents say they don't know if they wait any longer.
The commissioner for Housing and Buildings in Yonkers, says he's given the management company the OK to start restoring the gas.
