Yorktown police officers grew out their beards for a family in need this November.
This year, they raised about $4,000 for the local Dunn family. Christian Dunn, 2, suffers from a life-shortening disease known as congenital muscular dystrophy.
The Dunn family is raising money to help them buy a specialized van that will allow them to transport Christian's wheelchair, which weighs about 300 pounds. The van costs about $70,000.
The police department found out about the Dunns while answering a call at their house, and decided to chip in.
Male officers didn't have to shave their beards for the month, while females were allowed to dress down.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise additional money for the van.
