Gov. Hochul has said she is pushing to pass new gun safety
legislation in response to recent decisions made by the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court’s decision reversed NYSRPA v. Bruen, a
100-year-old case that required people to have proper cause in order to carry a
gun.
Hochul says over 662 guns have been seized this year, a 98%
increase compared to last year at this time. Ghost gun seizures have also gone
up a whopping 1,800% since 2018.
The governor and her team will be reviewing all options
available to ensure that New Yorkers have the strongest protections available
when it comes to gun control.
