Police say a Rockland County woman was arrested this weekend after falsely reporting firefighters stole jewelry and cash from her home while extinguishing flames.
According to authorities, 48-year-old Kam Yung accused volunteer firefighters from Tappan, Sparkill and Orangeburg of stealing $7,000 in cash and jewelry from her Constitution Drive home Friday while putting out a fire.
Orangetown detectives investigated the claims, but Yung admitted to them that she lied after spending the money on her own.
Yung is charged with falsely reporting an incident. She is due in court May 19.
