Wreck Pond in Monmouth County is being drained into the ocean in an attempt to alleviate further flooding.

The beaches at The Terrace and Beacon Boulevard were closed to swimmers after a drain pipe for a nearby pond was opened to let water flow into the ocean.

That helped alleviate some of the flooding.

Swimmers are reminded to stay away from the area because the mounds of sand are not stable.
