Over the last few weeks there has been a rise in brush fires across Connecticut. And while most of the fires have been deemed accidental due to the dry conditions, some are being investigated as suspicious.

One in Middletown burned for more than 24 hours. In Thomaston, the volunteer fire department warned that fire danger was very high Wednesday and is expected to be all week. They've had two brush fires this week alone.

In Stratford, there have been eight brush fires in the last 14 days, six on the same stretch of road. Two of them happened Wednesday around 1:15 p.m., both along River Road – about 16 firefighters worked to put it out.

Fire Marshal Robert Daniel says all of them are have been deemed suspicious and are being investigated. He says the main cause of brush fires is human error such as improperly putting out a cigarette, but these past couple of weeks have been extra busy for his office.

Daniel says there are some precautions you can take – for example it's not a good time for a campfire.
