Easton police recognized a civilian and some of their officers during National Police Week Monday for their efforts in trying to help an unconscious man during a three-car crash.
The crash happened last November on Route 59. Police say when they arrived on the scene, a man from Newtown was there trying to help in any way he could.
Eric Willinger said he did everything he could to try and revive the injured person - who was later identified as a retired Stamford police officer. Police say he died in the crash.
Sgt. Arthur Belile says he saw Willinger performing CPR on the victim.
Easton police reached out to Willinger for comment on News 12's behalf.
