Hudson Valley drivers are getting some relief at the pump as gas prices fall heading into the summer travel season.
AAA says the national average for a gallon of regular gas is $4.24, down 18 cents from last week.
In New York, the average price is now $4.44, down from $4.53 a week ago, according to AAA.
Local prices are also easing, with some stations in Westchester offering regular gas for about $4.19.
In Rockland, GasBuddy reports prices as low as $4.15 at a station in Haverstraw.
The drop marks the second straight week of declining prices after a spike earlier this spring.
Energy experts say prices are cooling as crude oil remains below $100 per barrel and tensions in the Middle East have eased.
As long as oil stays below that level, experts say gas prices could hold steady or continue to fall.
However, uncertainty remains tied to global conditions, including shipping concerns in the Strait of Hormuz.
