A Suffolk County man says he woke up to a terrifying surprise early Tuesday morning when he came face-to-face with an intruder inside his home.

David Williams says he was awakened by a noise around 2:30 a.m. at his home on Erna Drive in Coram. Investigating the sound coming from a spare room, Williams says he opened the door and found himself standing face-to-face with a man dressed entirely in black.

“When I saw him, I flicked on the lights and said, ‘Get the you know what out of my house,’ and I pursued to chase him,” Williams said. “He dove through my window like Superman. I mean, he didn't touch the frame, he didn't touch nothing.”

Williams says the suspect escaped through a window before running off.

Just hours later, Suffolk County police arrested 45-year-old Tyamie Bell, of Shirley.

After running away from Williams' home, investigators say Bell broke into a home on Judith Drive around 4 a.m. Police say that about an hour later, officers found Bell attempting to break into another home on Norfleet Lane, but he ran from the scene.

Authorities say Bell was arrested about five minutes later outside a home on Gray Avenue in Medford.

Neighbors say the incidents are unsettling, but are relieved Bell was arrested.

"The area seemed to be getting better. Things like this can happen anywhere,” said Robert Clark. “I am just glad they caught him.”

Police say nothing was stolen and no one was injured during the incidents.

Williams says investigators told him the suspect allegedly entered homes without taking anything.

“According to the police, they told me he likes to come in and just stand there and get chased by the owners and chased out of the house,” Williams said. “That was his thing. He wouldn't take nothing, he wouldn't bother no one. So he was just weird.”

Bell is facing burglary charges and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
