Following two years of COVID-19 restrictions and caution in the face of the pandemic, more people are hitting the road this Memorial Day weekend despite high gas prices.

AAA predicts 40 million Americans will hit the road.

AAA spokeswoman Fran Mayko says high gas prices aren't stopping most people.  

"Despite high gas prices, people are going to travel. They're going to go somewhere, and most folks in CT are planning to travel and drive despite those rising gas prices,"

Caleb Silver with Investopedia says a lot of those traveling in Connecticut are driving to the coast.

"Hopefully, we can see good restaurant activity along the coast of Connecticut."
Mayko says other destinations for Connecticut travelers include Mohegan Sun, Mystic Aquarium, and theme parks.
