198ds agoUnder a new law, New Jersey lawmakers are asking teachers at least 6 months into retirement to come back to schools.
Currently, schools throughout New Jersey are experiencing severe teacher and staff shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The law says they can still teach under a one-year contract, while collecting a pension.
The staff member will be able to return on an annual contract basis, which can be renewed for one additional year.

The total period of reemployment cannot exceed two years unless approved by the commissioner of education.
The measure was signed into law on Tuesday.
