The second annual Brooklyn School Gardens Crawl took place at District 15 schools in Brooklyn Saturday.
The crawl was hosted by Garden Train, a group of school garden leaders. During the crawl, the outdoor gardens at the various schools were open for the public to come and check out.

This year, participating schools included P.S. 15 in Red Hook, P.S. 24 in Sunset Park, P.S. 29 in Cobble Hill, P.S. 32 in Gowanus, P.S. 118 in Park Slope, P.S. 146 in Carroll Gardens, P.S. 169 in Sunset Park, P.S. 295 in South Slope, and the Brooklyn Urban Garden Charter School in Windsor Terrace.
Each participating school had its own activities and demonstrations in the garden, and the free event was open to all ages.
Kathy Park Price, founder and administrator of Garden Train, says the event will hopefully inspire other New York City schools to put in garden programs.
Price says, "Gardens are beautiful but also essential. It starts with loving science and loving the environment."
