Here’s what you need to know:
  • It's a cool, calm and cloudy start to the day. Temperatures are in the mid-60s.
  • Today will be brighter with lighter winds and warmer temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.
  • The latest drought monitor comes out this morning with little to no changes expected due to the recent lack of rainfall. Drought conditions are expected to worsen if this dry pattern continues. The Fall foliage period and vibrant colors will likely be impacted. Stay tuned for updates.
  • As the Summer season comes to a close, a mini temperature rollercoaster will take us through the next few days.
  • Friday will be even warm again with highs in the low 80s. A cold front will pass through the city Friday evening knocking temperatures to the low 70s this weekend.
  • The Autumnal Equinox officially begins Monday September 22nd at 2:19PM. On the Autumnal equinox, the sun crosses over the equator marking the start of astronomical Fall. This results in nearly equal day and night in the northern hemisphere.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Storm Gabrielle has formed in the central Atlantic and currently poses no direct threat to land.
