National Adoption Day is on Saturday, but families are being blessed officially starting today at the Middlesex County Courthouse.
News 12 was able to witness private adoptions and adoptions from Child Protection and Permanency.
A total of 14 children and two adults were adopted today.  Nine of them were under foster care.
Jennifer Bond was adopted by her foster mother of four years. The 15-year-old had been part of the system since she was a toddler, and was placed in seven different homes.
She said that confusion and angst made her act out in the past, but now she has a mother, dad, sister and she is rooted.
"I was a troubled child. It used to bother me at school, but now my parents have helped me to become this young adult that is able to go to high school, and do what she wants to do and know what she wants to be in life.  They gave me an opportunity to be the person who I wanted to be, so they changed my ways," says Bond.
Since National Adoption Day was created 18 years ago, more than 54,000 children were moved from foster care to forever families.
There are various events leading up to National Adoption Day, including one in Union County Friday where superheroes will join in on the celebration.
