Body of young woman found in Monsey park
The Rockland County medical examiner has ruled the death of a young woman whose body was found Monday in a Monsey park a homicide.
Investigators say the body was found at around 6 a.m. near the entrance of Manny Weldler Park off West Maple Avenue. Police officers discovered the young woman's burning remains under a yellow tarp after a call came in about a fire in the park.
The victim has yet to be identified.
The Rockland County Sheriff's Department and the Ramapo Police Department are both investigating. Police say there is evidence an accelerant was used to burn the body.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information in the case.
