Lost dogs turn up all the time at police stations across New Jersey.
One New Jersey department had some fun with a pup on social media in order to bring attention to the fact that it was lost.
When someone turned in a lost pug Sunday, Cape Map police took a picture of the dog as if it was a mug shot and posted it on Facebook.
“This is what happens when you run away from home,” the Facebook post said. “This guy was captured sneaking through yards on the 1300 block on New Jersey Avenue.”
The owner was soon located and police posted another picture of the dog inside a jail cell.
The dog’s owner was able to free the dog by bringing a bag of cookies to the station as “bail.”
The mug shot photo was shared thousands of times on Facebook.
