A post office in the Town of Chester was officially renamed today in honor of a fallen soldier from Rockland County.

Hundreds attended the ceremony, where the town's only post office on Brookside Avenue was dedicated to Lt. Louis Allen, 34, who was killed five years ago in Iraq.

A science teacher in Tuxedo, Allen was also a first responder on Sept. 11, 2001, and a hero to many.

Allen's childhood friend Tommy Fleming came up with the idea to rename the post office. Rep. John Hall (D-District 19) wrote the bill proposing to honor the solider, which was passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama.
