Do you ever find yourself in a potentially dangerous situation and wonder how could you protect yourself?
News 12 Long Island’s Eileen Lehpamer teamed up with two self-defense experts in her special report "Street Smarts.”
There are basic self-defense moves that anyone can learn, like giving a quick open-handed upper jab to the sternum or face. However, before it gets to that point of confrontation, experts say some "street smarts" can make you less of a target.

“You drop your guard low enough, there's going to be someone there willing to take advantage,”  said Steve Kardian, an FBI defense tactics instructor.
In his book, "The New Super power for Women,” Kardian tells people to learn to trust your intuition, always scan the area in front of you, glance back when walking, make brief eye contact with people as you pass them and walk with purpose.
Dominic Macchio, a certified self defense trainer at the UFC gym in New Hyde Park, also showed some other "pressure points" to keep in mind.
