Severe storms are responsible for three deaths and millions of dollars of property damage to the Hudson Valley.
Tornado-strength winds turned deadly as an 11-year-old girl was fatally crushed by a tree on Robinson Avenue in the city of Newburgh. Police say the girl and her mother were unloading the family's SUV when a tree crashed down on it. The girl's mother was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Neighbors say the family usually parked the SUV on the other side of the lot.
Also, a 58-year-old woman was killed when a tree fell on her car driving along Albany Post Road in the town of Newburgh. 
Police say an 80-year-old woman was injured by a falling tree branch while she was driving on Red Schoolhouse Road in Chestnut Ridge during Tuesday's extreme weather. She was rushed to a hospital but died from her injuries.
The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down Tuesday afternoon in Newburgh during the outbreak of storms.
