Hudson Valley residents may see jump in gas prices thanks to Hurricane Katrina
When it comes to the price of gas, Hurricane Katrina is expected to make a bad situation even worse for Hudson Valley residents. Record high gas prices are expected to jump again as oil refineries and wells in the Gulf Coast area shut down due to the hurricane. The increase in gas prices may force local businesses, like Miles Square Bus Transportation in Yonkers, to increase their prices by 15 to 20 percent. That increase will be passed on to the school district and eventually down to the taxpayers. President Bush said he is considering releasing some oil from the nation's petroleum reserves to help refiners hurt by the storm. Related link
