Joyride in stolen plane raises concerns about security at Westchester County Airport
Concerns are being raised Thursday about security at the county airport a day after a man stole a plane from a Connecticut airport and landed hours later in Westchester.
Police say 20-year-old Philippe Patricio, of Bethel, Connecticut, was drunk, stole a plane and took it on a joyride with two teenagers before landing at Westchester County Airport Wednesday. The incident has Westchester County Executive Andy Spano demanding a federal investigation into the matter.
County airport personnel says there are theft deterrents installed on all small planes and larger airplanes have the electronics detached. Still, the incident has many travelers concerned with security at the airport.
