Four local teens are making national headlines after their bake sale in a Chappaqua park was shut down by police for selling without a permit.

The teens say they were selling brownies, cookies and cupcakes to save up for a hot dog truck in Chappaqua's Gedney Park last month when New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn called the cops.

For the second day in a row, Wolfensohn refused requests by News 12 to go on camera to comment on the incident. He says he stands behind what he did, but wishes he had talked to the kids himself instead of calling the police. Some Chappaqua residents said the story is being blown out of proportion, but many believe the councilman exercised poor judgment. The teens tried to apply for a permit, but say it would cost hundreds of dollars and requires a $1 million insurance policy.

The teenagers say they are taking the winter off and will try to sell cupcakes again in the spring.
