A Morris County Eagle Scout has earned 139 merit badges.

Shane Jones from New Jersey Troop 156 in Flanders says that making Eagle Scout at 14 was the easy part.

The 17-year-old says that earning that amount of badges is an accomplishment that not many people have achieved.

"So 136 is right now the current amount a Scout can earn if they didn't have any extra merit badges, just earning straight up what the BSA has to offer," Jones says.

Jones says that he earned so many badges that his grandmother had to sew an extension onto his sash so all the badges would fit.

The Scout was recently recognized by the Board of Trustees for his efforts.
