Paterson police officers who were under scrutiny after a viral video of them arresting a man with a hearing impairment will not face charges.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday that the officers were cleared of any wrongdoing.

According to the report, the officers were involved in a traffic stop when a crowd formed.

They say that 42-year-old Raasean Adams, who is deaf, intervened in the traffic stop.

Officials say that the officers asked Adams several times to leave the area. They say that Adams was intoxicated and refused to leave. He also allegedly threw a lit cigarette at one of the officers.

The officers were seen on video attempting to arrest Adams, and at one point had him pinned to the ground. Bystanders are heard yelling at the officers.

Adams faces charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
