Following a massive search, police arrested the armed suspect who robbed a bank in Washingtonville Wednesday.

The bank robber entered Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union on East Main Street, pulled out a gun and made away with $5,000, authorities say.

Police searched for the suspect by air and on the ground throughout the day.

All schools in the Washingtonville district went into lockdown, and officials alerted parents.

?I was scared. I was just so scared. They said the kids are better off at school because they?re safe there. But if you want to come pick up your son, you have to bring your photo ID,? says Julie Scanlon.

Police are checking if the suspect also held up a Newburgh gas station Wednesday morning, saying the description is similar to their suspect.
