Authorities say a woman found badly beaten inside her home apparently died from blunt force trauma.

Essex County prosecutors say 55-year-old Nellie Marquez was found around 3:20 p.m. Saturday in her apartment located at 130 Dayton St. in Newark. She was pronounced dead there a short time later.

Authorities say that a family member found Marquez and called police.

A motive for the attack remains under investigation, according to officials.

Essex County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Officials say that Marques lived in a senior apartment complex and was known as a model tenant. She was a member of the tenant association and was respected by her neighbors, according to investigators.
