Thanksgiving is next week and to make sure those in need don't miss out on a turkey dinner, the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County is asking for turkey donations.
The group says it is looking to collect about 4,000 turkeys.
Organizers say they hope the community will realize how many people are in need during the holiday season.
"It's the respectable time of year to come out and say, you need help," Executive Director Kate Lombardo says. "That's when we're able to capture the population that needs help all year long because if you need a meal on Thanksgiving, then you'll probably need meals the rest of the year."
The food bank is hoping to receive all donations by Wednesday. Those who wish to donate can head to the food bank location on Glenbrook Road.
