Student from Orange County victim of VA massacre
A 19-year-old student from Orange County is confirmed as one of the 32 people killed in the Virginia Tech shooting rampage.
The flag at Minisink Valley High School flew at half-staff in honor of former student Caitlin Hammaren. The principal of the school says Hammaren was one of the most outstanding young people he had ever worked with in more than 30 years as an educator. A counseling center has been set up at the high school for students and faculty.
Police have identified the gunman as 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui. Seung-Hi took his own life after the shootings. Seung-Hui, came to the U.S. from South Korea in 1992 and was raised in suburban Washington, D.C., officials said. He was living on campus in a different dorm from the one where Monday's massacre began.
Funeral services for Hammaren will take place in Virginia. Minisink Valley High School is planning its own memorial when Hammaren?s parents return to Orange County.
